Letter to athletes & parents. is mindset u for you?
Dear Athletes and Parents,
I hope this letter finds you well. As many of you know, my name is Curtis Pelletier, and I am both a baseball coach and a mental performance coach. I am writing to share something deeply personal and important to me regarding the journey we embark on together.
Coaching and service are my life’s purpose. When I step onto the field or into a session, I give my all because I believe in the potential each athlete possesses. Seeing someone transform through hard work and dedication is one of the greatest rewards I can experience. It's what drives me every single day.
However, I have noticed a recurring issue that I feel compelled to address: the lack of effort and commitment from some athletes. When someone comes to me for help and then doesn’t put in the necessary work, it frustrates me deeply. Maybe it shouldn’t but it does. It’s not just about the immediate results; it’s about the long-term potential and greatness that is left unrealized.
I take this personally because I know what each athlete is capable of achieving with consistent effort and dedication to the little things. I demand more than most because I see the greatness within you. I see the victories, the personal bests, the breakthroughs waiting to happen. I know how it feels to achieve these and I want that so badly for you… because I know deep down you want that too. But none of this can be realized without your full commitment.
One thing that particularly gets under my skin (and yes I get frustrated… just ask my wife) is seeing athletes work hard to make it look like they’re working hard instead of just doing the damn work. There’s too much talk and eyewash, and not enough real, gritty effort. Don’t waste time trying to impress others with appearances and words. Earn the flash by putting in the genuine work day in and day out. Let your performance speak for itself. Optics can’t help you hit bombs… bottom line.
Ask yourself this… do you like the idea of playing at the next level or do actually want to play at the next level? Because there’s a big difference. The latter is HARD!
I have been where you want to go. I understand the challenges, the sacrifices, and the relentless effort required to reach the top. It takes what it takes to get there, and I won’t sugarcoat it: it’s fucking hard. It requires a level of discipline that not everyone is willing to embrace. But discipline is the cornerstone of success. It’s about doing what needs to be done, even when you don’t feel like it. It’s about making the right choices every day, consistently pushing yourself to be better.
We need to live life on offense. That means attacking every day with purpose and intensity. It’s about controlling what we can control and not sitting back, waiting for things to happen. Success doesn’t come to those who wait—it comes to those who go out and fucking earn it.
The process is everything. This is number one. It’s all I talk about. It’s laid out for you. It's not just about the big moments; it’s about the daily grind, the small wins, the consistent effort. Trusting and committing to the process is what leads to real, sustainable success. When you embrace the process, you’re setting yourself up to achieve greatness, step by step, day by day.
My role goes beyond just teaching techniques and strategies. I am here to guide you, to push you, and to help you discover your true potential. I ask for your effort not for my benefit, but for yours. I have seen firsthand what can be accomplished when an athlete truly dedicates themselves to their craft, and I want nothing more than to see each of you succeed. If it’s not for you that’s ok too.. be great at what you love.
Parents, your support is crucial in this journey. Encouraging your children to stay committed and put in the effort every day makes a world of difference. Together, we can create an environment where hard work, discipline, and living life on offense are celebrated, and potential is maximized.
To the athletes, know that I am here for you every step of the way. But remember, greatness doesn’t come from what we do occasionally; it comes from what we do consistently. Some of the current Mindset U athletes are crushing it. But will it last? Embrace the challenges, push through the tough times, and commit to the little things daily. I promise you, the rewards will be worth it.
Thank you for entrusting me with the opportunity to coach and guide you. Let’s make the most of this journey together.
